Instructors

At Shoten Kyodo Martial Arts, we have a board of chief instructors who collectively run the club, as well as instructors who run their own classes or help out. Feel free to read a little bit about them below, and click the "read more" button to find out some interesting facts.

Sensei Ross has been training since he was 6 years old, where he trained in traditional Shotokan Karate.

His training has taken him all over the world, competing at multiple world, national and regional competitions.

SENSEI TINA CROW

CO-FOUNDER/CHIEF INSTRUCTOR

Sensei Tina has been training for 18 years. She originally only attended classes to bring her two sons to train, but eventually took the decision to join in.

She has travelled the globe competing at multiple world and national championships, earning multiple medals and trophies along the way.

SENSEI SCOTT CROW

CO-FOUNDER/CHIEF INSTRUCTOR

Sensei Scott first started training in 2003, following in the steps of his older brother. Although not a natural like Ross, he persisted and eventually achieved his black belt at the age of 14.

Now a 2nd Dan in Shoten Kyodo, as a chief instructor and running his own class, Scott enjoys Kata the most, and loves the constant competition between him and his brother.

SENSEI GARY RAINES

CO-FOUNDER/CHIEF INSTRUCTOR

Sensei Gary started Martial arts after watching his first Bruce Lee film. He has studied various styles including Kung Fu, Kick Boxing and Aikido, but he finds karate his favourite of all styles.

Gary has taken part in many tournaments and won his fair share of medals and trophies, but without a doubt he now enjoys training with his two daughters the most.

Mark enjoys the kumite and self defence aspects of karate the most, as well as the comradery that is gained within the club.
